As a result of research by Professor Sylvie Belleville, director of the Quebec Aging Research Network, we now know that Alzheimer's disease is triggered years before it is diagnosed and we have tools for earlier detection. She has developed prevention programs that can delay cognitive decline in at-risk individuals by several years and her discoveries have led to more effective interventions against this neurodegenerative disease, which is prevalent around the world.
